I'm so mad😡 I just found out I'm in Melbourne❗️This is too much...
It's so different from what they said online😱 These are some of my experiences living in Melbourne. I'll make another one for London.
1. For those travelling from Beijing and Shanghai, I recommend flying with Australian Airlines which can take you directly to major cities in Australia.
2. For those travelling from Guangzhou, you can choose to fly with China Southern Airlines which can take you directly to Australia.
3. Don't rush to get a SIM card. You can get one at the airport after you arrive. There are discounts during the school season, so make sure to compare them. (The three major carriers are Telstra, Optus and Vodafone).
4. Don't bring too much stuff. You can buy everything you need at the supermarket here and it's cheap.
5. Buses don't announce stops. Not every stop is a stop, so make sure to let the driver know in advance.
6. Don't skip this!
7. It's really "Australian-style", which can be a bit boring compared to the US and UK, and the service industry is quite slow. But it's also really relaxing, and it's nice to just lay on the grass and read a book all day.
8. Be careful of the big bugs, especially those from the north. It's probably beyond your imagination😬
9. When renting a house, pay attention to the orientation of the room to avoid lightning. Avoid west and south, or else you'll either be sunburnt or frozen.
10. Don't park in the disabled parking spots.
