Having been ill in the UK, I learned how to buy medicine at a pharmacy.
I came to the UK a while ago and unfortunately fell ill, possibly due to the change in environment. Dealing with the healthcare system here can be quite troublesome, but luckily my friend, who has extensive experience living in the UK, gave me a list of essential items to buy from the pharmacy, and it turned out to be quite useful.
My friend said that this is a common list of home remedies that British people keep on hand, so I thought it might be helpful for others as well. 🙇♀️
🟢Stomach Issues
I initially had discomfort in my stomach, and if I had resolved it earlier, I wouldn't have had so many other issues.
1. Rennie
The British version of antacid tablets, haha.
2. Imodium
For relieving diarrhea.
3. Rennie
For those who enjoy drinking alcohol, remember to have one on hand. It helps with stomach discomfort after a hangover, and the British blindly choose this. It comes in three different types depending on the severity of discomfort, so make sure to consult the store staff before purchasing.
4. I would also suggest having Dioralyte, commonly known as electrolytes, based on your personal needs. I don't like the taste of electrolyte water, so I didn't buy it.

🟢Fever/Cold
‼️Note: Do not use multiple items together! Just choose one! Remember this!
1. Paracetamol
No need for explanation, it's the go-to fever reducer in the UK.
2. Lemsip
Also for reducing fever, but more focused on sore throat, nasal congestion, and headaches. It's like a hot version of cold medicine. I find it quite interesting that it has a lemon 🍋 flavor.
3. Day & Night Nurse Capsules
One of the top-selling cold medicines in the UK. It comes in a combination of daytime and nighttime capsules. You need to confirm with the pharmacy staff before purchasing.

🟢Sore Throat
1. Strepsils
The British version of lozenges with soothing properties. It saved me when I was feeling uncomfortable. 🥺
2. Benylin Mucus Cough
Commonly known as a cough syrup for relieving coughs.

🟢Pain Relief
1. Voltarol
The name might sound familiar, but be careful not to buy the wrong one. This is specifically for relieving muscle and joint pain. It comes in various forms, including creams for topical application. You can think of it as the British version of Yunnan Baiyao.
2. Nurofen
This is for toothaches, headaches, etc. One of its main ingredients is ibuprofen, and it has various specific classifications, so make sure to read the label carefully when buying.
🟢Menstrual Pain
Feminax Express is specifically for menstrual pain. It doesn't help with other issues.

These are just home remedies for emergencies. If you're feeling unwell, it's still important to see a doctor. Also, a reminder not to throw away the instructions because, like me, if you have a bad memory, you might forget how to use them. 🌝
