Upon reaching Durham, our main destination was Durham Cathedral, a sacred structure witnessing the vicissitudes of history. After spending nearly two hours there, we embarked on our journey to Newcastle. Arriving in Newcastle, I sensed a vibe similar to Glasgow, as if I transitioned from the tranquility of the countryside to the hustle and bustle of a modern city. We visited the iconic Tyne Bridge and Gateshead Millennium Bridge, both enchanting in the night. The next day, we headed to the east coast of Newcastle, enjoying the lighthouse views, savoring seafood, with Tynemouth/Whitley Bay St Mary Lighthouse being a highlight of the trip. The journey also included a visit to Newcastle University, immersing ourselves in its academic atmosphere. Indulging in delicious roast meals and Hong Kong-style dim sum in Chinatown boosted our mood. This romantic trip with roommates was filled with happiness, making me reminisce about the beautiful moments of student life and the joy of studying abroad. Each stop etched unforgettable memories, from the solemnity of ancient cathedrals to the grandeur of modern bridges, from the tranquility of the seaside to the vibrancy of the city.
