In terms of experience, student apartments are not as comfortable as social apartments. If you don't believe it, you can ask the senior students around you.
So why do freshmen like student apartments?
Because they are cheaper.
They include utilities, saving money and hassle.
Some provide weekday breakfast and cleaning services, and some even offer employment guidance and community activities without extra charges.
You don't have to worry about guarantors and taxes.
When you calculate it, the ultimate goal of living in a student apartment is to save money. If it's not cheap, why bother living in a "cramped" place in London?
