Help me 😭 Someone has really explained British supermarkets clearly.
As an international student in the UK, you must be familiar with supermarkets! But did you know that there are many different types of supermarkets? Here are some of them:
♈Poundland
Mainly sells household items, stationery, and snacks. They do not have fresh food or vegetables.
♉Iceland
Specializes in frozen fast food. If you just arrived, it is recommended to buy some semi-prepared food like burgers, hot dogs, and fries to cook at home.
♊Lidl
Lidl offers a wide range of products at low prices. The only downside is that the appearance of the store might not be as appealing. If you don't mind that, it's worth a visit.
♋Morrison's
Morrison's is a local supermarket in the UK, mostly found in suburban areas. They have fresh produce and meat, including items like pig hearts and livers that you might not find in other supermarkets. In the evenings, they often reduce prices on products nearing their expiration date, so you can find some good deals after work.
♌Tesco
Tesco is a British chain supermarket that international students often visit. They have a section for Chinese products, so you can find many Chinese items there. If you frequently shop at Tesco, it's recommended to get their membership card for some benefits. After 4-5 pm, they often reduce prices on certain items.
♍Waitrose
Waitrose is a high-end supermarket in the UK. They have a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, dairy products, and meat, which are generally of higher quality. They often reduce prices on Sundays.
♎Marks and Spencer
Marks and Spencer is an established British supermarket brand known for its quality. However, it is not recommended to do bulk shopping there. Instead, you can buy some daily necessities. After 3 pm, they often reduce prices on certain items.
