Dreamy Start to Studying in Australia 💎 Guide to Navigating Your First Week with Ease
Back in the day when I was studying abroad, the first week after landing was quite chaotic and overwhelming 😢 I had to clean and organize the apartment, purchase various household items, and complete various paperwork procedures... So, here I have compiled a to-do list for the first week in Australia, so you don't have to worry about being overwhelmed and can start your energetic study journey in Australia!
1️⃣ Get a SIM card
You can buy a one-month SIM card in advance, which can serve as a transition when you first arrive in Australia. It's not convenient to carry a big suitcase right after getting off the plane, so you can get a local SIM card after landing.
2️⃣ Open a bank account
I recommend getting a credit card in your home country in advance, it's really necessary❗️For those who have already completed the account opening process in their home country, you can go to the corresponding offline branch to collect the physical card.
3️⃣ Carry some cash
There's no need to carry a large amount of cash with you 💰 It's not safe! Bring around 300-500 AUD just in case you encounter situations where you can't pay with your phone or bank card.
4️⃣ Set up Apple Pay with your bank card
After setting up Apple Pay with your bank card, you'll find that it's very convenient to just carry your phone when going out, just like in your home country✅ You can use Apple Pay in most places where card payment is accepted, so you don't have to carry cash 💰 anymore!
5️⃣ Download Uber/Google Maps
Link your Visa card to Uber in advance, so you can take a taxi directly to your apartment upon arrival, super convenient~ Learning to read maps is a necessary skill when abroad, and Google Maps allows you to check real-time bus schedules. Everyone is using it👍🏻
6️⃣ Get a transportation card (Myki)
In fact, most of your transportation will be done through public transport. Myki is a card that can be used for trains, trams, and buses. I recommend getting one~ Remember to tap on and off when using it 🚌
7️⃣ Buy household items
I highly recommend Kmart hahaha, everyone says it's like the MINISO in China, they have a wide range of products and they're quite affordable~
📝So far, this is what I have summarized, I hope it's helpful for everyone~
