Things might get a bit messy around the City area after 7-8 PM, but as long as you're not alone, it's not a big issue. Avoid going to Fyshwick, as it's the red-light district. Keep an eye out for Australian teenagers, just keep your distance, and you'll be fine. ANU provides a security bus at night, and female students can call the school for a direct escort home with two security guards!
