In Australia, people often say that ensuite layouts are desirable for long-term rentals.
Newbie renters must be confused by terms like studio, ensuite, share, 2b1b, and so on. Let me explain the differences between each type of unit:
1⃣️ Studio:
It has a private bathroom and kitchen, with no need to share any common spaces. It's the top-tier room for single occupancy, and usually comes with a higher price.
2⃣️ Ensuite:
It's a single room with a private bathroom, while the kitchen is shared with others. Typically, the kitchen is shared among 4-8 people. The more people, the larger the kitchen and living room. If you want to live comfortably alone without a high budget, ensuite is the preferred choice. It's also sometimes referred to as a studio without a kitchen. 😂 It's my recommended type as it saves money, provides a comfortable living experience, and you can even make friends easily.
3⃣️ Share apartment:
Both the kitchen and bathroom are shared. The bathroom is shared among 2-3 people, while the kitchen is shared among 4-8 people.
4⃣️ 2b1b:
The first "b" stands for bedroom, and the second "b" stands for bathroom. A common example of 2b1b is a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom unit.
