Our primary priority is always the safety of students. iQ Student Accommodation takes proactive fire safety measures, with all properties confirmed safe for residence by independent fire engineers. These measures include: According to building designs, smoke or heat detectors, sprinklers, wet risers, and automatic smoke ventilation may be installed in each bedroom and kitchen as well as in certain buildings. All of our buildings are equipped with fire detection systems. On-site staff receive ongoing training 24 hours a day on fire safety issues, including how to respond to fire alarms, onboarding residents, conducting regular building inspections, weekly sound tests, and conducting regular fire drills. In the majority of our buildings, fire alarms are connected to a central monitoring service via Red Care. All fire safety systems are maintained and serviced according to UK standards, and only national contractors (employing certified qualified personnel) carry out these tasks. The fire safety system in iQ Student Accommodation is regularly assessed by external qualified risk assessors and audited by internal health and safety officials.
