The bitter history of renting in London, one can tell a tale of hardship. ❗❗
Lately, I've been having a hard time finding affordable social housing. I've looked at so many places, but most of them are available for rent in the next two months! Finally, I found a few places available for September, but when I saw the prices, I was shocked. A 1-bedroom apartment on the Isle of Dogs is going for £800 per week? Even a studio in Elephant and Castle's social housing is £620 per week, and that doesn't even include bills. I'm really frustrated...
So, I thought about looking for a shared 2-bedroom apartment. But even in Elephant and Castle, the average cost per person for a 2-bedroom is £490 per week. It's ridiculous! I might as well live alone in a student apartment studio where all bills are included.
Finally, I made up my mind and found a student apartment. I caught the last bus with the help of a very helpful guy. It's £309 per week, including all bills. It's a safe place to live, the room is decently sized, and it's within walking distance to IC. Plus, it's within a 30-minute subway ride to various universities in London like UCL and KCL. I don't have to suffer through the hassle of finding housing anymore. I've been so anxious lately.
Wow, student apartments are really great!
I wish all of you the best of luck in finding a place to live. Remember, don't even bother with social housing this year!
