1⃣️ Once we arrive at the local area, we usually get assigned to a random room. If you're not satisfied with the room, it's often challenging to change unless other students are willing to swap or there are spare dorms available. It's indeed different from what we're used to here, but you just have to accept it. Being in an unfamiliar place, there's not much else you can do. 🐛
2⃣️ Dorm keys are crucial and must be kept safe. According to UK law, the letters on dorm keys are not allowed to be duplicated arbitrarily to ensure security. If the key is lost or damaged, you may need to pay around £50 as compensation, depending on the school's regulations. Also, remember to take your key when going to the kitchen or elsewhere to avoid being locked out.
3⃣️ For smoking students, it's crucial to note that smoking is strictly prohibited in the dorms. The UK has implemented laws against smoking in public areas (including schools, restaurants, bars, and even nightclubs). Smoking in the dorms could not only cause damage and trigger alarms but also lead to serious consequences.
