Many students have recently arrived in the UK one after another. What are the things to do after landing in the UK?
Let me share my first experience of coming to the UK with everyone 🥳 to help you avoid some pitfalls! (Feel free to like and bookmark if needed)
1️⃣ First thing after landing: Get your BRP!
Basically, it's like getting your ID card. The visa on your passport is actually a short-term one, while the BRP is your study visa in the UK.
⚠️ It's best not to keep them together, it would be a hassle if you lose them 😭
(Don't ask how I know this 🧐)
2️⃣ Get a local UK bank card
You'll definitely need a SIM card in the UK, but to get one, you need a bank card.
These banks are recommended:
✅ Barclays Bank
✅ HSBC Bank
✅ Local UK banks
3️⃣ SIM card
Doesn't matter much, just choose a local UK operator.
4️⃣ Move into student accommodation
Why recommend students to stay in student accommodation? Because bills are included! ❗️
Meaning, water, electricity, gas, and internet bills are all taken care of in the apartment ✅, which is more worry-free.
If you live outside on your own, you'll have to arrange water, electricity, and internet yourself.
Including Wi-Fi (installing Wi-Fi yourself is really troublesome 🙏🏻, I don't want to laugh again)
And some rooms don't come furnished, then you'll encounter the "classic start of a student's life" 🥸
These are some of the things international students need to do when arriving in the UK 💪🏻
