Attention international students! ❗️ What are some things you only realize after studying abroad?

Can't fall asleep in the middle of the night, suddenly feeling the need to reflect. After studying abroad, I realized I had too many fantasies about my foreign friends 💔. It's almost impossible to make good friends. It all started with my roommate, W, who's a real academic achiever. For the sake of getting the top spot, he's practically burning the midnight oil every day. It's either hitting the books or heading to the library, with no time for any youthful gatherings. Throughout the year we lived together, apart from discussing rent and utility bills, we were like strangers. Definitely not the warm and outgoing roommate I imagined before going abroad. So, I often felt a bit stifled and lonely at night. Wonder if fellow international students abroad have had similar thoughts 😮‍💨?
