Until today, I still don't know what those two Italian girls were singing about, and honestly, I don't want to know. Some things are better left unsaid. I imagine they were singing some incredibly beautiful and touching stories, so beautiful that they are hard to put into words, beautiful enough to make your heart ache. Let me tell you, those voices soared to the sky, flying farther than any dream one could imagine. Like beautiful birds flapping their wings, they came into our dreary cells, making the walls disappear without a trace. In that moment, every person in Shawshank Prison felt freedom.
